December Match Making Continues With Dos Santos vs Overeem and Edgar vs Mendes
December is shaping up to be one of the biggest fight months in UFC history with two more meaty fight additions. Junior dos Santos will take on the resurgent Alistair Overeem in what is most likely a heavyweight eliminator for the winner of the next installment of Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez.
UFC on Fox 17 in December will be a real treat for the national audience. The two have never fought, but not for a lack of trying. Their first fight didn’t happen because Overeem’s hormone ratios were out of bounds, and the second because of an Overeem injury. Hopefully he makes this fight and makes it a fight. JDS is already talking about Alistair not failing another drug test; so let the hyping and verbal attacking begin.
Frankie Edgar may not be getting a title shot, but it’s as close as he’ll get these days with Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor taking care of their business first. He will face Chad Mendes in TUF 22 finale on December 11, a day before the Aldo/McGregor superfight. We all know what these two guys are going to bring to the Octagon, so get ready for a December to remember.
