Is Saturday The Biggest Sports Days In History?

June 19, 2015

We all know at this point that Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao is going down Saturday night in Las Vegas. Hotel prices are skyrocketing and so is the cost just to actually see the fight on a big screen in Sin City.

It’s a huge sports weekend. In the shadow of the superfight is none other than the Kentucky Derby. Not only is the Derby on Saturday, but it’s also one of the deepest fields in years. Here’s an interesting article about how amazing the horses in this year’s race actually are.

The fight is at night, the Derby in the afternoon, so what else is going on in the world of professional sports? The NBA and NHL playoffs for one. We are in that time of the year when the NBA and NHL seasons are winding down (and getting more intense) and the MLB season just starts picking up.

Between the fight, the Derby, the NBA and NHL playoffs and a casual day of regular season baseball, that’s a full sports day! Mayweather/Pacquiao is the bonus here because it’s a once in a lifetime event, but don’t sleep on the rest of the day. It’s nonstop from the moment you wake up (depending on what coast you live on.)

Sports activation opportunities are a tremendous value to organizations, brands and especially our clients. We here at VFD love a day like Saturday, when the entire world of sports will be on display, and we finally get to see the boxing match we’ve all been waiting for. Needless to say, there will be a lot of sports activation opportunities this weekend. Enjoy!
