Jose Aldo Will Fight Conor McGregor At UFC 189 After Bruised Rib Scare
The MMA world was thrown on its head for a moment when we found out that Jose Aldo was taken to the hospital with a rib injury and could possibly miss his fight with Conor McGregor. What was thought to be a fracture actually turned out to be a bone bruise, and he has been cleared to fight as of right now. Chad Mendes is the backup plan in case Aldo doesn’t make it, but that would be a huge loss for the UFC.
UFC 189 on July 11 at the MGM Grand is the next big PPV on tap for the UFC and losing Jose Aldo would kill the top of that card. In the co-main event, welterweight champ Robbie Lawler takes on Rory MacDonald in his first title defense. Anytime Lawler gets in the Octagon there’s some head hunting going on, but the word on the street is that Rory has some tricks up his sleeve.
Two titles fights for the price of one is what makes these superfights hype central. The Aldo/McGregor saga has a little twist in the plot right now. The build-up to this fight has been anything short of incredible. McGregor is brash and has a mouth on him. Aldo is the champ, one of the best in the world and not interested in anything Conor McGregor has to say. The clock is ticking and we’ll see what happens on July 11!
