League of Legends draws in record viewer numbers
The 2014 the League of Legends World Championship was an event that took place over 15 days. Within those 15 days, there were over 100 hours of live video play. This was broadcast over 40 different broadcasting partners with Riot Games, and was displayed in 19 different languages. All across the world Riot reports that they had 288 million cumulative daily unique impressions, which led to 179 millions hours of footage being watched by League of Legends and eSports fans. League of Legends being the biggest eSport and bringing the most viewership than any other game.
The final day of play was held in Sangam Stadium, a World Cup Stadium in South Korea. The stadium was packed full of 40,000 League of Legends fans from all across the world and many tuned in at home to see who would be victorious for the 2014 League of Legends World Championship. During the final games, there were more than 11.2 million concurrent viewers at its peak, and the overall unique viewer count for the finals reached 27 million. Each fan clocking an average of 67 viewing minutes, each time they tuned in to see the action.
