Stipe Miocic Dominates Mark Hunt At UFC Fight Night 65
The UFC was back this Saturday in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia with UFC Fight Night 65. Tough Samoan and favorite Mark Hunt got a taste of his own medicine, getting swarmed and dominated by the younger and faster Stipe Miocic. Miocic wore him down with his superior wrestling and ground game over the first few rounds and ended the fight with a TKO in the fifth round.
There was controversy because referee John Sharp let the fight go on much longer than needed. Mark Hunt was beat up and didn’t need to continue to take more punishment. He’s a tough guy, but he’s now on the wrong side of the heavyweight division. Miocic is moving up in the division and watch out for him in the near future.
In the co-main event, Robert Whittaker electrified the crowd with a 44-second knock out of Brad Tavares. Whittaker put on a show and is now 2-0 in the welterweight division. He showed that he has the power to possibly make some headway in the welterweight division.
The best of the rest:
Sean O’Connell knocked out veteran Australian Anthony Perosh in the first round. James Vick had a big win against young Australian Jake Matthews with a first round guillotine submission.
VFD gives brands opportunities to capitalize on the growing popularity of the UFC and MMA, and that popularity was on display this weekend in Adelaide. They had a hot crowd and the UFC put on a show for the hungry local MMA fans.
