The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale Recap

The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale was the second show in the biggest week in UFC history and the surprises continued on this interesting card.

Frankie Edgar showed up and took care of Chad Mendes in one round. Due to Edgar’s lack of size, any time he gets a finish, especially against a seasoned fighter like Mendes, you see how great of a fighter Edgar really is.

This makes things very interesting in the featherweight division. Edgar is the obvious #1 contender for Conor McGregors’s new championship belt, but will he have to wait for McGregor to go up a weight class? Edgar is ready and deserving of the next featherweight title shot. Hopefully he won’t have any complaints when the UFC books him for his next fight.

Lightweights Edson Barboza and Tony Ferguson did battle in the co-main event and Ferguson is ready for the next step in his division. They were both bloody messes, but Ferguson slipped a choke on Barboza that ended the fight and showed how dangerous he really is. This was a great fight.

Best of the rest:

Lightweight: Evan Dunham took down Joe Lauzon.

Featherweight: Tatsuya Kawajiri took care of Jason Knight.

Flyweight: Joby Sanchez was taken care of by Geane Herrera.

Heavyweight: Konstantin Erokhin lost to Gabriel Gonzaga via decision.
