UFC 191 Recap

September 30, 2015

UFC 191 has come and gone, and a record was broken that no one would be proud of. It had the lowest live gate of any PPV in Las Vegas in the last 11 years. Regardless of those humbling numbers, Demetrious Johnson just keeps winning. John Dodson thought that he figured Mighty Mouse out in the first fight. Going by his post-fight press conference beat up face that he couldn’t help but draw attention to, he definitely didn’t figure anything out. Johnson just keeps getting better as the only UFC flyweight titleholder in the history of the weight class.

In the co-main event, Andrei Arlovski defeated Frank Mir via unanimous decision in a pretty uneventful fight. Arlovski apologized to the crowd in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, but he’s still moving up in the division. Things aren’t looking as well for Mir, moving towards the twilight of his career.

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was back to what he does best with a second round TKO of Jimi Manuwa. Johnson earned a $50,000 bonus for Performance of the Night.

Paige VanZant submit Alex Chambers with an arm bar in the women’s strawweight division. VanZant is moving her way up in the 115-pound division with all eyes on her.

Raquel Pennington upset favorite Jessica Andrade via rear naked choke in the second round to earn her Performance of the Night as well and a $50,000 bonus.
