UFC 194 Recap: McGregor Is King

December 19, 2015

UFC 194 was insane! Jose Aldo finally showed up to take on Conor McGregor and McGregor not only knocked Aldo out, but he did it in 13 seconds. The biggest talker in the UFC is also the biggest walker in the UFC. McGregor is king and the sky is the limit for him. If McGregor can go up a weight class and take care of the winner of Dos Anjos and Cerrone, he will without a doubt be the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Lookout world, the Conor McGregor show is just getting warm.

Chris Weidman looked confident leading into his middleweight title fight with Luke Rockhold, but he definitely received the unexpected. In the Fight of the Night, Rockhold knocked out Weidman in the fourth round to take his title belt. There’s a new champ in town, but who’s next for Rockhold?

Yoel Romero defeated Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a controversial decision. The controversy continues for Jacare, since most people saw the decision in his favor, if not at least a draw. It will be interesting to see how the UFC untangles from this mess.

In the first two fights on the main card, Max Holloway took care of Jeremy Stephens in their featherweight matchup. The underappreciated Demian Maia defeated Gunnar Nelson in another great welterweight bout.

This was a Supercard that did not fail to deliver. The UFC had an amazing week, where the entire landscape of multiple divisions were turned on their heads. Only time will tell how everything pans out when the dust settles. The UFC really closed the year out with a bang!
