UFC Fight Night 73 Recap

August 11, 2015

Glover Teixeira looked vulnerable at first against Ovine Saint Preux in the main event of UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville, TN. He absorbed some of Saint Preux’s tough striking and then did a bunch of heavy striking himself, defeating a bloodied Saint Preux with a rear naked choke in the third round. Needless to say, Teixeira is moving up in the light heavyweight division, hoping that the UFC feeds his resurgence back towards the top.

In the co-main event, Beneil Dariush won a hard fought controversial split decision against Michael Johnson. Many people had Johnson as the winner, and Johnson himself felt that he was robbed.

Best of the rest:

Middleweight Derek Brunson looked great with a first round TKO of Sam Alvey.

Jared Rosholt defeated Timothy Johnson via decision.

Sara McMann got her clock cleaned by Amanda Nunes in the women’s bantamweight division and then lost via rear naked choke in the first round. Nunes has now become a sleeper pick in the Ronda Rousey sweepstakes.

Flyweight Ray Borg defeated Geane Herrera by unanimous decision.
