VFD Marketing Presents: UFC Fight Night 71 Recap

July 20, 2015

36-year old Frank Mir was supposed to be a steppingstone for Todd Duffee at UFC Fight Night 71 on Wednesday in San Diego and on Fox Sports 1. It seems like the UFC 189 hangover barely had time to lift before Mir showed up and knocked out a man 7 years his junior. Both men threw heavy blows at each other, but one man’s did more damage than the other. Frank Mir knocked out Todd Duffee cold, and told the UFC heavyweight division that he’s not done yet.

In the co-main event, Tony Ferguson defeated Josh Thomson in a featherweight unanimous decision. This fight was nothing less than a war, with Ferguson taking care of business for the sixth time in a row and his ninth out of ten. No small feat in the stacked UFC lightweight division.

Holly Holm had a unanimous decision victory against Marion Reneau and remains undefeated in the women’s bantamweight division.

Manny Gamburyan took down Scott Jorgenson in a bantamweight unanimous decision.

VFD, a Miami-based UFC marketing agency gives brands the opportunity to capitalize on the growing popularity of MMA and the UFC. Don’t think this card was just an afterthought in the wake of last Saturday’s power packed PPV. Frank Mir has a chance to steal another win or two, and don’t sleep on Tony Ferguson. He’s on quite the winning streak.
