Will Floyd Mayweather’s Fight Against Andre Berto This Saturday Sell Out?
On Saturday, Floyd Mayweather will take on Andre Berto in the final fight of his contract with Showtime. In the post-fight press conference after the Manny Pacquiao fight, Floyd stated bluntly that this would be his final fight. However, according to ticket sales numbers at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, people don’t particularly seem to care.
There are many seats available and after the Mayweather/Pacquiao media storm, there’s not much hype or build up to this fight. Berto is a good fighter, but has lost three of his last six fights, which is not Mayweather caliber.
Ahead of this fight, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has again reiterated that this is Mayweather’s final fight. Regardless of the gate and the actual performance, consider this his swan song to an unbelievable career. While you could accuse Mayweather of ducking stronger opponents, his skill and record speak for themselves. Mayweather will walk out of the MGM Grand on Saturday with his undefeated record in tact, and according to all sources, ready for the next chapter of his life.
