Woman Makes It To League Of Legends Championship Series For First Time

August 19, 2015

Maria “Remilia” Creveling, member of the team Renegades, just made it to the League of Legends Championship Series and it’s big news because she is the first woman ever to have done so. Reddit was on fire watching her, giving her props as one of the best around. However, there’s a nasty side to this story.

There’s a lot of backlash, harassment and abuse directed towards Creveling, and it seems like she’s not interested in actually playing in the final for that reason. She claimed that her goal was to only make it to the championship, not actually play in it. From the abuse that she’s been getting on Reddit and Twitter though, it’s hard not to agree with her desire not to continue.

Regardless if she decides to continue or not, she has already made her mark on the history of the game. Males dominate League of Legends, but it’s only a matter of time before high-level women start popping up more and more.
