5 Tips for Enjoying UFC on FUEL TV in Sweden

February 15, 2013

On April 6th, VFD Marketing fighter Diego Brandao will travel to Stockholm, Sweden, facing Pablo Garza LIVE on Fuel TV. The Ultimate Fighter 14 winner will be looking to get his second straight victory inside the Octagon, with sights on establishing himself as one of the top contenders in the UFC Featherweight division.

This will be the second time Ultimate Fighting Championship hold an event in Stockholm, Sweden. The Scandinavian country is quickly becoming a Mecca of European Mixed Martial Arts, with hordes of UFC fanatics rooting for their favorite fighters.

Previous Sweden event sold out in less than three hours, while in time of writing this article, there are less than 200 tickets left for the April 6th date. State of the art Ericsson Globe Arena will once again host the Ultimate Fighting Championship attraction, with an approximate attendance of 15,300 fans.

Before Diego Brandao packs his luggage and takes off to Scandinavia, we have 5 important journey tips for a good time in Sweden:

Take a sweater or two

Last April it was snowing in Sweden. Yes, in April. Swedish climate is much different than the one Diego Brandao is used to in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, the weather inside the Octagon is always the same – it’s burning hot, and Diego is no stranger to danger when it comes to that.

Put some Swedish electronic music in your headphones

Diego Brandao’s entrance music at UFC 153 was “Sandstorm” by Darude, so we think he might appreciate some EDM suggestions we might have. While Darude actually comes from Finland, Diego Brandao should consider tracks from one of the top DJ’s on the planet – Avicii (Tim Bergling). Eric Prydz, Dada Life, and of course the world famous Swedish House Mafia are all representing the great traditions of Svenska electronic dance music scene.

Swedish women

Sweden is well-known for having some of the most beautiful women on Earth. Diego Brandao comes to win, and will have to concentrate 100% on Pablo Garza, and not on all the beauties in the hotel, at the weigh-in, press conference, on the street… anywhere. However, in addition to getting that “W” he might come back with some new additions to the VFD Models section.

Try Plättar

Weight cuts can be rough. But what can be better than rewarding yourself for all that suffering with a good meal, just hours before stepping inside the Octagon. Plättar are a small pancakes, widely known as simply Swedish Pancakes. Those are extremely delicious, often served with jam and other types of sweets. But be careful, Plättar is a sure road up to Heavyweight.

Visit Gamla Stan

Founded in 1252, Gamla Stan is one of the oldest medieval centers in Europe. History is pretty much on every corner in Gamla Stan, and it’s definitely a must-see location in Stockholm, Sweden. More than anything, Gamla Stan will be a perfect location to celebrate the victory over Pablo Garza in style.
