Clay Guida: I'll See What Kawajiri Is Made Of

April 3, 2014

Clay Guida doesn’t need an introduction to his impressive resume as a fighter. Competing inside the Octagon since 2006, “The Carpenter” has well-cemented his status as a household name in the UFC. Fight of the Year awards, record-breaking streaks of Fight of the Night honors, and displays of pure heart and skill that made him a worldwide MMA star.

Next week, Guida will co-headline UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi in a highly-anticipated encounter with Tatsuya Kawajiri. While he’s currently not on a winning streak inside the Octagon, Clay Guida wants not only to defeat Kawajiri, he wants to destroy him. That’s a task by itself, since Tatsuya Kawajiri is a crafty veteran who has long paid his dues in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Nicknamed “The Crusher”, Kawajiri made a successful UFC debut back in January, and will surely look to steal Guida’s thunder in Abu Dhabi.

Victory over Kawajiri will put Clay Guida back on track in the UFC featherweight division. In his interview with AXS TV’s Inside MMA, “The Carpenter” stated that he is willing to see what Kawajiri is made of, promising an exciting fight in Abu Dhabi.

Clay Guida vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri takes place on April 11 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The event is headlined by the Heavyweight collision between Roy Nelson and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira.
