Clay Guida vs. Chad Mendes Set for UFC 164

May 29, 2013

VFD Sports Marketing athlete, Clay “The Carpenter” Guida, will be looking to make another stop towards the shot at the UFC Featherweight title, this time facing Chad Mendes at UFC 164 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The fight between Guida and Mendes was originally scheduled for last April’s UFC on FOX 7, but “The Carpenter” was forced to pull out of the bout due to injury.

Guida made his Featherweight debut back in January, edging the super-tough veteran Hatsu Hioki via decision. Former title challenger Chad Mendes (14-1) is widely regarded as one of the toughest fighters at 145lbs, and can be easily labeled as a high stakes opponent for Clay Guida.

Victory over Chad Mendes will put “The Carpenter” in pole position for a shot at the title, currently held by Jose Aldo. Interestingly enough, Jose Aldo will defend his belt at UFC 163 against no other than Anthony Pettis, who was defeated by Clay Guida two years ago.

UFC 164 will take place on August 31, 2013 at home of the Milwaukee Bucks - BMO Harris Bradley Center.
