One of the top 155’ers on the planet, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, will finally get the fight he wanted.

That’s right, Cowboy will step inside the Octagon to face no other than the former WEC Lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (15-2 in MMA), in a fight that will take place at UFC on FOX 6 on January 26th in Chicago. The winner of this fight is most likely to get the next shot at the UFC Lightweight title.

Donald Cerrone (19-4 in MMA) is currently on a mission to finally get his title shot, with two straight victories against Jeremy Stephens and Melvin Guillard. The only man to ever defeat Donald Cerrone in the UFC is Nate Diaz (via decision), who will be fighting Ben Henderson for the title at UFC on FOX 5 on December 8th.

Cerrone is probably the most decorated fighter in the UFC when it comes to Fight Night awards. Cowboy has 11 Fight Night awards in both WEC and the UFC. More than anything, Cowboy is training at Jackson’s-Winkeljohn’ Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has one of the best MMA camps on the planet at his disposal.

Both fighters are ranked high by MMA experts in their Top 10 Lightweight lists, which only adds to the magnitude of this fight.
