Cub Swanson Loss Clears Way For Conor McGregor

November 26, 2014

Last Saturday, UFC Fight Night 57 kicked off the heart of the UFC season. The upcoming Fight Night’s and PPV’s are the kinds of events that have the potential to solidify the UFC’s stronghold as the best MMA promotion in the world.

Frankie Edgar defeated Cub Swanson with ease, which was good news for Dana White and the UFC brass. The reason is that if Cub Swanson defeated Edgar, he’d easily be next in line for a title shot with Jose Aldo. However, an Edgar win opens up space for the Conor McGregor versus Jose Aldo fight that everyone is hoping for after McGregor defeats Dennis Siver as expected (you never know what will happen).

The UFC is keen on setting up fights that are best for business. A Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo title fight would be nowhere near the draw of anything that Conor McGregor touches. He’s by far one of the hottest UFC commodities right now because of his big mouth and his ability to back it up. So all eyes will be on the McGregor/Siver fight headlining UFC Fight Night 59 on January 18, 2015.

Pay close attention to the UFC in the next couple months. As a MMA fan, it’s an opportunity for reality to out-perform expectation.
