Jameis Winston: The First Pick In The 2015 NFL Draft

June 19, 2015

The wait is over and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Jameis Winston with the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft. As expected, the Tennessee Titans took Marcus Mariota with the second pick, ending an interesting lead up to an NFL draft.

The big question was about Winston’s character. Between the sexual assault accusations and the stolen crab legs, his off the field actions made teams and scouts skeptical. The Bucs rolled the dice as all teams do and time will tell if Jameis Winston is an impact player.

The same goes for Mariota. You never know how someone will assimilate and adapt to an NFL system and as a quarterback, the defensive upgrade is daunting. Like Jameis, time will tell.

You can check out the entire first round list here. Highlights include Amari Cooper to the Oakland Raiders. If they can get the ball into his hands, he’ll light it up.

Trae Waynes went to the Minnesota Vikings. He is a big guy at corner back and has impact player written all over him.

Dante Fowler Jr. was selected third by the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a Florida Gator, he won’t have to travel far to give the Jags an upgrade on defense.

There was a little sponsorship controversy during the draft. Bose is the official sponsor of the NFL and both Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota were showing off their Beats by Dre. Amari Cooper is the third athlete that they sponsored in this draft. VFD connects athletes with top brands across all sports. Apparently, the first and second picks of the draft were connected as well.
