Jon Jones Defeats Alexander Gustafsson In Classic Showdown at UFC 165

September 22, 2013

In an instant classic and a sure Fight of the Year candidate, VFD Sports Marketing athlete Jon “Bones” Jones triumphed at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, beating Alexander Gustafsson via Unanimous Decision.

Gustafsson was Jones’ toughest test to date, thanks to a carefully-calculated stick and move gameplan that forced the champ to think of a proper solution after the first round. Jones did find that solution with powerful high kicks and spinning elbows that have slowed Gustafsson, and rocked him on several occasions.

In the end, Jon Jones wins the unanimous decision in what was the toughest fight of his young career. Gustafsson proved his worth as a fighter, which could contribute to a rumored super-blockbuster rematch in early 2014.

Jon Jones is now the longest reigning Light Heavyweight champion in UFC history, with 6 title defenses. A truly impressive achievement for a twenty-six year old fighter.

VFD Marketing would like to thank everyone who supported Jon Jones at UFC 165, fans and sponsors alike.
