Luke Rockhold Steamrolls Lyoto Machida At UFC On Fox 15

April 20, 2015

For years Lyoto Machida has been the class of the light heavyweight and middleweight divisions. Luke Rockhold would like to make it clear that he’s now the man in the middleweight division and the one who deserves the next title shot against Chris Weidman. He submitted Machida with a rear naked choke in the second round of the UFC On Fox 15 main event, a dominating performance and a message to the UFC.

The man who thinks he deserves the title shot more than Rockhold is none other than Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza who dismantled Chris Camozzi in a completely one sided affair by armbar submission in the first round. Not so fast says Jararé. As the #1 contender and at the wrong end of some bad luck with his change of opponent, it will be interesting to see whom the UFC brass chooses to face Chris Weidman.

The best of the rest:

Max Holloway said farewell to Cub Swanson with a guillotine choke in the first round. Page VanZant took care of Felice Herrig in a unanimous decision. Beneil Dariush defeated Jim Miller and Ovince Saint-Preux knocked out Patrick Cummins in the first round of a dominating performance.

With good cards such as this one on national television, VFD and the UFC continue to capitalize on the growing MMA market and give brands opportunities to grow along side its product. All eyes were on Luke Rockhold this Saturday in New Jersey and we’ll see who is up next for Chris Weidman.
