Manny Pacquiao Wins When It Comes To Sponsorship Dollars

April 22, 2015

If the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 were for sponsorship dollars, Manny Pacquiao would win in a landslide. Ever since the Filipino boxing champion and Congressman started winning again, the dollars have started to roll in as reported by Forbes.

Remember, Manny lost two fights in a row: one controversial decision to Timothy Bradley and then he got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, leaving his boxing future in doubt and drying up his sponsorship dollars. As of today, Manny, who is back on a three fight winning streak, is set to rake in about $5 million this year alone in sponsorship dollars. Leading the way are big time companies Nike and Nestle, followed by Foot Locker and Wonderful Pistachio.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t take any sponsorship money and is still one of the highest paid athletes year in and year out. His company handles his fight promotions so he makes the bulk of his income on the actual fights, where promoters traditionally take a large cut.

Regardless of if he doesn’t want to take sponsorship money or if he’s just a tough sell because of his criminal background, the verdict is in. When it comes to sponsorship dollars, the people love Manny Pacquiao.

The superfight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is on Saturday, May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. VFD Marketing connects brands with top athletes like Manny Pacquiao across all sports. Apparently Manny has his ducks in line for this fight and looking forward as well.
