Mayweather-Pacquiao Set Sponsorship Record
In what is probably not the first nor the last record broken, $13.2 Million is the sponsorship total for the Mayweather-Pacquiao super fight this Saturday in Las Vegas as reported by ESPN. 5 companies pitched in to reach that record starting with Tecate, the official beer of the fight.
Tecate beat out Corona’s $5.2 Million bid with the winning $5.6 Million for the most expensive real estate, the center of the ring. The Mexican Tourism Board and Smart Communications (Filipino telecom company) are two other companies that pushed those sponsorship dollars up. Paramount Pictures/Skydance Productions is promoting two movies and The Weinstein Company is promoting a new film as well with trailers during the PPV telecast.
With tickets just going on sale and the promotion for this event basically being handed over to the media, this Saturday will be quite the spectacle. Let’s not forget the Kentucky Derby is on Saturday as well so the Strip and the sports books will be buzzing.
