Six VFD Marketing Athletes Set to Fight in August
It’s summertime, as the world of Mixed Martial Arts prepares for a super-stacked month of August. With four cards in total (Brazil, Boston, Indianapolis, Milwaukee), no less than six VFD Marketing athletes will take part in the action.
UFC’s August calendar starts with Aldo vs. The Korean Zombie in Rio de Janeiro Brazil on August 3, with no UFC athletes participating. But fear not, it gets better and better towards the end of the month.
Here’s a list of what to expect in August:
UFC on FOX Sports: Shogun vs. Sonnen
August 17 | TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts
Ultimate Fighting Championship will celebrate its first event on the brand new UFC on FOX Sports 1, headlined by the highly-anticipated Light Heavyweight bout between Mauricio Rua and Chael Sonnen. However, some people would argue that the biggest attraction of the night is the Heavyweight blockbuster between VFD Sports Marketing star Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem. Both fighters will be looking to get the ‘W’, with Travis Browne being clearly one fight away from getting in the mix for a shot at the UFC Heavyweight title.
UFC on FOX Sports: Condit vs. Kampmann 2
August 28 | Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana
Despite not getting his hand raised against Georges St. Pierre and Johnny Hendricks, Carlos Condit did more than enough to cement his status as a fan favorite and one of the top Welterweights in the UFC. There’s clearly an unfinished business The Natural Born Killer will be looking to solve against Martin Kampmann, serving as a headliner in Indianapolis. Also on the card, fan-favorite Mexicano Erik Perez will be looking to extend his unbeaten run in the UFC, facing the crafty veteran Takeya Mizugaki. Victory over a fighter of Mizugaki’s caliber will prove a point for Erik Perez, as “El Goyito” continues his incredible journey inside the Octagon.
UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis 2
August 31 | BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Just three days after Condit vs. Kampmann 2, it’s time for another heated match-up. That’s right, VFD Sports Marketing athlete, and arguably one of the best fighters on the planet – UFC Light Heavyweight champ Benson Henderson will once again go toe-to-toe with Anthony Pettis. But hold on, VFD Sports Marketing athletes got top sports on the card, with Frank Mir fighting Josh Barnett in the co-main event, and Clay Guida fighting Chad Mendes. Expect fireworks, ladies and gentlemen!
