Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem Set for UFC On FOX Sports 1: 1

June 19, 2013

On August 17, VFD Marketing fighter Travis Browne will step inside the UFC Octagon for the eighth time in his career, this time facing the multi-time combat sports champion - Alistair Overeem. The fight will serve as the co-main event for the long-anticipated UFC on FOX Sports 1: 1.

Travis Browne is step by step becoming a household name on FOX. Hapa headlined UFC on FX 8 against Antonio Silva, was featured on the main card at TUF 17 Finale (also on FX), and now gets a prestigious main card slot at what many people perceive as one of the biggest UFC events of 2013.

As far as this match-up goes, there’s no doubt that Alistair Overeem is exactly the big-name opponent Browne needs to face en route to a title shot. The highly-regarded Dutchman is extremely dangerous in all areas, which will provide Hapa the necessary platform to prove a point inside the Octagon.

Knockout of the night victory over Gabriel Gonzaga proved that Travis Browne is a top tier Heavyweight. This was Hapa’s second Knockout of the Night finish, alongside the Submission of the Night victory over Chad Griggs at UFC 145. With a strong record of highlight reel finishes, Browne has quickly established himself as a fan favorite, and one of the top fighters in the division.

UFC on FOX Sports 1: 1 takes place at the mythological home of Boston Celtics – TD Garden Arena. The event is headlined by the Light Heavyweight blockbuster between Chael Sonnen and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
