UFC 155 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

December 28, 2012

UFC 155 will take place this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by the Heavyweight title fight between Junior “Cigano” dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.

VFD Sports fightersErik Perez and Leonard Garcia will also compete on the card. Perez will square off against Byron Bloodworth on FX, while Leonard Garcia will go toe-to-toe with Max Holloway LIVE on Facebook.

Main Event: Junior dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez (LIVE on Pay-Per-View)

I believe JDS’ hands speed and overall MMA skills will be too much for Velasquez. However, don’t be surprised if Cain leaves the Octagon with the title he lost to dos Santos back at the inaugural UFC on FOX event back in 2011. Velasquez’s wrestling and ground-and-pound make him one of the best fighters on the planet, which would definitely test the Brazilian’s grappling skills and the so-called heart of a champion. It’s a close fight, but JDS will prevail. My prediction is Junior dos Santos via TKO in the 4th. Velasquez is hard to finish, and will fight to the end.

Erik Perez vs. Byron Bloodworth (LIVE on FX)

This will be the third time Erik Perez steps inside the Octagon, this time facing Byron Bloodworth. Perez is currently on a two-fight win streak, looking to move one step closer his ultimate goal of becoming the UFC Bantamweight champion. Bloodworth is coming off a loss, and will fight hard to get that ‘W’, but Erik Perez is just one level above when it comes to hands speed and timing. I predict another 1st Round KO/TKO finish for El Goyito.

Leonard Garcia vs. Max Holloway (Live on Facebook)

Bad Boy Garcia will be looking to get back on the winning ways against Max Holloway. Garcia is widely-regarded as one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, always looking to put up a great show for the fans by going out guns blazing against his opponents. Holloway is tough and durable, but Leonard Garcia will be a man on a mission on Saturday night. Garcia’s training with Clay Guida, Diego Brandao and other top Greg Jackson’s fighters will pay off. Bad Boy via TKO in Round 2.
