UFC 162: Three Fights to Watch

July 3, 2013

The long-anticipated UFC 162 fight card is finally here! Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman for the UFC Middleweight title, and 10 other high quality MMA bouts will make sure this 4th of July weekend is the one to remember.

UFC 162 is stacked top to bottom with high-profile bouts, but as always - there are some that stand out more than others. Below are three fights that you definitely shouldn't miss on Saturday night, live on Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman

As expected, Spider Silva vs. Chris Weidman is the main attraction of this fight card. Anderson Silva is the undisputed pound-for-pound king in MMA today, currently undefeated inside the Octagon. On the other hand, Chris Weidman is so confident in his victory that he already promised Anderson Silva an immediate rematch. Anderson Silva is a clear favorite in any match-up, and Chris Weidman is no exemption. We'll go with Silva, TKO in Round 2. Yeah, you heard it first here.

Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira

Win or lose, Frankie Edgar is still one of the top fighters on the planet. With a record breaking number of title fight appearances, Edgar's experience by itself is enough to defeat Charles Oliveira. Both fighters are well-known for exciting round-to-round brawls, and will definitely deliver a great performance for everyone watching around the world. Any result other than Frankie Edgar winning this fight convincingly will be a huge upset.

Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver

This is a huge main card opener! Cub Swanson is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC. Swanson has improved greately over his last four fights in the UFC, with three impressive knockout victories (two of them earned KO of the Night bonus). But then there's Dennis Siver - super technical, never gets tired, and just seems nearly unstoppable at 145. This is a very close match-up that can definitely steal the show on Saturday night. We'll go with Cub Swanson via Decision.
