UFC on FOX 7 Predictions from VFD Marketing

April 16, 2013

This weekend, UFC returns to the biggest stage of them all – FOX Sports.

Seventh edition of UFC on FOX is headlined by the lightweight title scrap between Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez, as Frank Mir welcomes Daniel Cormier to the UFC in the co-main event of the night (heavyweight bout).

Nate Diaz is also fighting on this card, facing Josh “The Punk” Thomson. Diaz was the last man to challenge Ben Henderson for his title, now looking to find his way back into the title contention.

So who will win on Saturday night? See our predictions below.

Ben Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez

Bendo is a champ for a reason. In fact, he could well be one of the Top 5 fighters, regardless of weight class, in MMA today. Melendez didn’t fight for quite a while, which could prove itself as a deciding factor against Ben Henderson. It will be a close fight, with Benderson winning via Decision.

Frank Mir vs. Daniel Cormier

This is such an intriguing match-up. Both fighters are incredible tough and durable. Frank Mir has the experience factor on his side, while Daniel Cormier’s wrestling makes him one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the UFC. So who will win? It’s hard to tell, but our pick goes to Frank Mir, via submission in Round 2.

Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson

Nathan Diaz is a hungry beast right now. He still wants this title, and Josh Thomson just happens to stand on his way. We expect a convincing performance from Nate Diaz on Saturday night. Make no mistake about it, Josh Thomson shouldn’t be underestimated. He’s been fighting longer than Nate Diaz, and has more fight on his record. But hey, it’s 209 all day. Diaz via Decision.

Matt Brown vs. Jordan Mein

This fight is truly worthy of opening the main card action on FOX. Both luchadores are well known for delivering exciting bout, as Saturday night will be no exemption. Expect Matt Brown to come in guns blazing right off the bat, en route to first round TKO finish.

UFC on FOX takes place on April 20, 2013 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Follow VFD Marketing on Twitter @VFDMarketing for more updates.
