The news of Andrei Arlovski re-signing with the UFC made many MMA fans around the world happy. That’s because after 15 years of professional competition, Arlovski is still a big fan-favorite and one of the top Heavyweights on the planet. With an impressive 10-4 record inside the Octagon and 15 KO/TKO wins on his record, Arlovski is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the eyes of any opponent.

 

Before the Belarus-born fighter makes his big comeback into the main stage of MMA competition, we look back at 5 of the biggest fights in his illustrious career:

 

vs. Fedor Emelianenko (Affliction: Day of Reckoning)

Despite losing to “The Last Emperor”, this was perhaps the biggest fight of Andrei Arlovski’s career, and yet again – despite the outcome, it was also one of his best performances. That’s because Andrei Arlovski was the first man to dominate Fedor Emelianenko in his prime. In a fight like this everyone can get caught, which is what exactly happened to Andrei Arlovski.

 

 

vs. Tim Sylvia (UFC 51)

This fight won Andrei Arlovski the UFC Heavyweight title. He would later fight Tim Sylvia on three other occasions, but this was certainly the best. Achilles Lock in just under one minute into Round 1, and “The Pitbull” is the UFC Heavyweight champion. Andrei Arlovski defended his title two times, finishing his opponents via KO/TKO on both occasions.

 

 

vs. Roy Nelson (EliteXC: Heat)

Currently a top contender in the UFC Heavyweight division, Roy Nelson faced Andrei Arlovski at EliteXC: Heat event back in 2008. Nelso was coming to this fight on a huge streak of 4 consecutive KO wins, and was a tough match-up for Andrei Arlovski. Yet, Arlovski was the one getting his hand raised after a vicious knockout in Round 2. This was a huge statement that “The Pitbull” is the one who should face the best Heavyweight fighter during that time – Fedor Emelianenko.

 

 

vs. Ben Rothwell (Affliction: Banned)

Another current UFC heavy-hitter, Ben Rothwell was on the rise before facing Andrei Arlovski. Similarly to Roy Nelson, he faced the same outcome, as “The Pitbull” simply brutalized Big Ben en route to another KO victory. This was a display of pure dominance, as Andrei Arlovski unloaded his full arsenal on Ben Rothwell.

This is Andrei Arlovski’s most recent bout before resigning with the UFC. The encounter with Andreas Kraniotakes, who’s regarded as the best Heavyweight in Europe, showcased Andrei Arlovski’s top form and reinvigorated fighting style. The Pitbull finished his opponent via TKO in Round 2, proving the fans around the world he’s back and better than ever.
