VFD Marketing Presents: Stories That Made X Games Austin

June 19, 2015

The last we checked, you can’t get your driver’s license until you’re 16 and a half, maybe 17 in some states. However, 17-year old Sheldon Creed said to hell with experience and took the gold in Off-Road Truck Racing. NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace entered this race, but didn’t get past the qualifying round. Fan favorite Travis Pastrana had mechanical issues, opening the door to an amazing story.

The Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street might as well be Nyjah Huston’s event. He won his 6th Skateboard Street gold medal and in total his 7th gold. Huston is on his way to quite the dynasty. Good luck to anyone trying to dethrone him.

The numbers are in and X Games Austin had almost 137,000 people in attendance. That is an amazing number and a testament to the growth of action sports and the X Games brand. It also helps when you have Nicky Minaj and Metallica as musical headliners.

VFD finds sports activation opportunities at a tremendous value to organizations. X Games marketing is hot right now and many companies took advantage of that interest through onsite promotions in Austin. If you haven’t gotten an opportunity to check out an X Games event live, add that to your bucket list. It’s a lot of fun.
