X Games Rocked Austin This Weekend
The summer edition of the X Games has come and gone, and the world’s best action sports athletes were on display for the entire world to see. If you tuned in on television or got the opportunity to see it live in Austin, you witnessed a great event brought to you by some great sponsors.
On Friday, legend Bob Burnquist won gold in the America’s Navy Skateboard Big Air Final. It was an emotional win for him, and his 28th medal, the most ever. He went on to win his 29th medal and 14th gold in the first ever Skateboard/BMX Big Air Doubles on Sunday with BMX rider Morgan Wade.
Vince Byron took gold in BMX Vert and in the Skateboard Vert Final Legend Pierre Luc-Gagnon won his 9th gold medal and 21st overall, not too shabby.
On Saturday night, Metallica and Nicky Minaj co-headlined an amazing show that featured Talib Kweli, Kid Ink, Pennywise, Deltron 3030, Joywave and the Glitch Mob as well. They always organize a great concert and put on a great party with top musical acts.
X Games sponsorships are a big part of the entire experience. Toyota, GoPro and Monster Energy are among the chief sponsors. VFD gives brands the opportunity to capitalize on the X Games. Action sports are getting bigger and bigger as the years go by. It’s amazing to see a grass roots event grow to such an international attraction.
